One slim recessed channel. Spotlights, linear diffusers & pendants — clicked on by magnet, moved anytime.
In 30 seconds
The brief essentials of magnetic track lighting, condensed for busy planners.
What it is
A slim ceiling channel carrying safe low DC voltage. Lights snap on by magnet — no wires showing.
Why it wins
Move, swap or add a light in seconds. Galleries, shops, restaurants and homes all use it.
Sizes
From a bold 50mm down to an ultra-slim 5mm — surface, suspended or fully recessed (trimless).
Price
Jainsons from ₹850/m vs ₹2,500–4,500/m for national brands — same quality.
Watch first
See magnetic track lighting, in 2 minutes
Before you read a word — watch how the track, the light heads and the magnets come together. It clicks the moment you see one snap into place.
What is it?
It's a track-lighting system with one clever twist: the fixtures attach with magnets instead of being wired in. Three parts make it work.
The track channel
The backbone, recessed into the ceiling. It carries safe low DC voltage along a metal backplate — not mains AC.
Compact magnetic lights
Slim fixtures with tiny built-in DC drivers — no bulky transformers, so the whole profile stays elegant.
Magnet + safety lock
Strong magnets grip the backplate; modern heads add a small hinge that mechanically locks each light in place.
A trimless recessed channel — the most popular choice for false ceilings.
One system, every kind of space
How magnetic tracks adapt to different visual and functional requirements.
Galleries & museums
Pin-sharp accent light on art and exhibits.
Retail showrooms
Focused, adjustable light that sells product.
Restaurants & hotels
Warm, layered mood lighting for dining.
Offices
Flexible task and ambient light, reconfigurable.
Homes
Modern, minimal lines for living spaces.
The reasons it's everywhere right now
Why top architects and interior designers consistently specify magnetic track systems.
Sleek, seamless looks
A compact profile that can run from ceiling to wall in one clean line — a modern, sophisticated finish in any interior.
One track, many fixtures
Mix laser spots, diffused linear lights, wall-washers and decorative pendants on the same channel.
Endlessly flexible
Move, add or re-aim any light along the track as the room — or the display — changes. No rewiring.
Easy to maintain
Low-DC design resists voltage spikes; a faulty light simply detaches for repair — the ceiling stays untouched.
Pick your profile
How it's mounted
Fixed straight onto the ceiling. Quick to install, no false ceiling needed.
Hung on clutch wires — ideal for double-height or feature ceilings.
Recessed into the false ceiling so only the light cavity shows. The cleanest, most premium finish.
Widths — bold to barely-there
Broad profiles for larger commercial spans and bigger light heads.
The balanced all-rounder — visible enough, subtle enough. The default choice.
Whisper-thin profiles for the most minimalist, almost-invisible ceilings.
Light heads you can fit
From simple switch to full automation
Select the control method that matches your space's technical infrastructure and design intent.
| Option | What it does | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Non-dimmable | Single fixed colour, on/off. | Straightforward, budget-friendly jobs. |
| Triac dimmable | Works with normal fan/edge dimmers; can tie into automation. | Homes wanting simple wall dimming. |
| DALI & analog Highly Recommended | Build multiple light "scenes" via automation. | Showrooms, restaurants, frequent mood changes. |
| 1–10V dimmable | Smooth, precise analog dimming. | Spaces needing subtle, fine control. |
| Tunable (DALI / RF) | Change colour & brightness; RF adds wireless remote. | Dynamic spaces, warm-to-cool shifts. |
| Grouping & zones | Group selected lights for targeted, zoned control. | Large layouts with multiple areas. |
Getting it right, in order
Three strict steps to avoid costly rework and ensure a professional finish.
Plan before the ceiling
Decide on a trimless recessed track and buy the channel before false-ceiling work — so no cutting later.
Leave room for the driver
Keep a trap door or serviceable spot for the power adapter, or use a linear driver that mounts on the track itself.
Buy track + lights together
There are no industry standards — match channel and lights from one supplier so they're compatible and in stock.
Fitting it, step by step
A smooth install is mostly about testing before you close the ceiling. Follow this order.
Fix the channel
Securely mount the track channel in its recess.
Join the sections
Connect lengths with straight or L-connectors.
Wire the power
Feed via the input conductor; carry power across with straight/L conductors.
Test the whole run
Use a spare light to check connectivity end-to-end — before closing the ceiling.
Test dimming & signal
For DALI / 1–10V, check power and signal (dimming) at every point.
Fit lights, then power on
Attach all heads first. Never energise the track until every light is plugged in.
The two mistakes that cost the most
Save thousands in electrical delays and aesthetic compromises by avoiding these traps.
Buying track and lights separately
There are no standard measurements between brands. Channels and lights from different vendors often won't fit — or the matching lights go out of stock after you've bought the track.
Buy the channel and all light parts together, from one supplier.
Choosing the wrong supplier
Magnetic track is technical. A supplier without real expertise — or a shaky supply chain — leaves you with delays and half-finished ceilings.
Pick a supplier with proven know-how and parts ready in stock.
What it should cost
National brands carry a big name-tag premium. SME specialists offer the same system — often with better stock — for far less.
| Brand | Type | Approx. price per metre |
|---|---|---|
| Philips | National brand | ~ ₹4,500 |
| Jaquar | National brand | ~ ₹2,500 |
| Jainsons Lights Best value | Specialist — all types & sizes, in stock | from ₹850 |
Because availability varies, always confirm that every part — channel, lights and connectors — is in stock before you commit. We hold the full system together.
