Jainsons Lights, since 1978, designed, engineered, and installed a bespoke 1.8 m diameter by 4.6 m tall spiral crystal butterfly chandelier for a double-height commercial mall atrium in Chennai.
Photos 1–3 show the installed chandelier on site. Photos 4–5 are design visuals prepared by our studio before production.
Project Overview:
- Client: A landmark commercial mall (via its contracting partner)
- Location: Chennai
- Year: 2025
- Scope: 3D design, 2D CAD engineering, metal-finish sampling, fabrication, and on-site installation
Design Concept:
Created as a vertical focal point beneath an architectural baffle ceiling, the installation pairs cascading crystal geometry with integrated architectural downlighting.
- Cascading Spiral Formation: A dynamic spiral composed of 14 mm K9 crystal beads spaced along fine suspension cables and accented with prismatic K9 crystal butterflies in three graduated sizes.
- Architectural Canopy Integration: A custom-finished stainless-steel ceiling canopy engineered to anchor securely through the site's baffle and concrete ceiling structure while housing recessed spotlights.
Execution Highlights:
- Materials and Dimensions: Spanning 1.8 m in diameter and 4.6 m in height, crafted with a custom stainless-steel ceiling canopy, 1 mm stainless-steel suspension cables, 14 mm K9 crystal beads, and prismatic K9 crystal butterflies in three sizes (55 mm, 75 mm, and 95 mm).
- Light Source: 60 integrated GU-10 LED spots mounted within the custom stainless-steel canopy to illuminate the crystal spiral from above.
- Design and Installation Process: Developed through 3D visualisations, 2D base-plate CAD drawings, and physical metal-finish samples, followed by complete on-site installation in Chennai by our own team.
Crafted by Jainsons Lights, since 1978, this installation reflects our structured approach to large-scale commercial atrium lighting. Share your ceiling size and photos with us on WhatsApp using the Inquire button for a custom proposal. Design support is included in the price.
